Rules
Under no circumstances is a player to play in two or more games on any one day.
A game in which either team has fewer than a full number of players is to proceed with reduced team numbers in the team that is short of players as provided for in the By-Laws.
Any team that has fewer than the minimum number of players to take the field will forfeit the match and a “friendly” may be played subject to negotiation of the coaches present.
Once a player has played three games as a run-on player in a particular grade/age/division, that player is ineligible to represent a team in a lower grade/age/division in that sport.
The following exceptions apply to this rule:
a) In special cases, a written application to the Executive of the Association (viz, the President and Secretary) outlining the particular case.
b) Age eligibility of students as for Q.S.S.S.C. unless
otherwise stated.
The points system for all sports shall be as follows:
Win: 2 (two)
Loss: 0 (no points)
Draw: 1 (one)
Forfeit: 2 (two) to non-forfeiting side
Bye: Maximum points available on that day
Washout: 1 (one) if scheduled to play
If a team is unable to play on the day set, it shall
forfeit unless the Heads of the two schools mutually
agree.
16.4.1 If a dispute arises before or during a game, the game must be played or completed and the dispute details lodged as outlined in paragraph 2.
16.4.2 If a dispute arises the complainant shall notify the opposing school and the Secretary within twenty-four hours that a dispute exists. A written report is to be furnished within three school days.
16.4.3. In the case of a disputed score, a score sheet must be furnished with the written report.
16.4.4 In cases of dispute the convenor of the sport involved will be consulted. The decision regarding the dispute will be made by the Delegated Authorities or the Association President, depending on the circumstances and nature of the protest.
In all cases the general conditions of play outlined below take precedence over anomalies that may occur in sports by teams.
16.5.1 Times for game as per attached sheet unless altered by prior agreement between Directors of Sport.
16.5.2 In general lower grade matches are played before higher grade matches.
16.5.3 a) The President has the authority in the event of wet weather or unplayable conditions to cancel a round. If play is cancelled in this event the round is declared a washout.
b) If the President has not ruled as in 3(a), then the Directors of Sport (with their Head’s authority) may agree by 11.30 am whether any or all matches will be cancelled. If play is cancelled in this event the match(es) is/are declared a draw.
c) If the conditions applying in 3(a) or 3(b) do not apply, the coaches of each team in any match, at the venue, may agree before or during a match to not commence, or to cease play in the event of wet weather or unplayable conditions. If play is cancelled, in this event the match is declared a draw.
d) If more than 50% of scheduled games are cancelled the round is declared a washout.
16.5.4 Draws and Tied Competitions
a) In the case of a draw: Ordinary Fixtures
- no extra time to be played.
b) Premierships will be declared by the Secretary and Directors of Sport on the basis of results throughout the season.
c) Tied Premierships may be declared.
16.5.5 Score Sheets
16.5.6 All teams will endeavour to play in Team Uniforms.
16.5.7 a) The Home side is required to supply the referee/umpire unless alternative arrangements have been made beforehand.
b) Where there are two teams in an age division, (eg. Touch, Basketball) the umpire/referee duties shall be shared by both teams. This does not apply to sports where there are 1st grade and 2nd grade such as Soccer & Rugby where one teacher is usually assigned to each team.
16.5.8 Unlimited substitutions are permitted and players substituted may re-enter the game at an appropriate stoppage with notification of the umpire/referee.
16.5.9 Notification of Results:
a) Coaches are requested to have all results of games played to the school’s Director of Sport by 3.45 pm each Thursday, (SCISSA Primary), 3:45 pm Friday (SCISSA Secondary)
b) Each school’s Director of Sport is required to notify the Secretary by 9.30 am each Friday of their school’s results, (SCISSA Primary), each Monday (SCISSA Secondary)
c) A progressive points score will be issued after each round by the Secretary.
16.5.10 Safety:
All coaches should be aware of the code of safety as outlined in PE Safety Handbook.
Protective equipment such as shin pads and mouthguards must be worn, as indicated in the by-laws for each sport.
Coaches and/or umpires/referees are to ensure the playing surface/field meets the Workplace Health and Safety Guidelines.
Grade 4 and 5 competitions will have finals.
Grade 6 and 7 will have finals where first will play second and third play fourth. The overall winners will receive a medallion.
Champion School Trophy is calculated by adding the final points score at the end of fixtures played throughout the season. This tally will result in a Champion School Trophy for summer and winter being awarded, thereby making this trophy one to which all teams contribute.
